Vestry Minutes 4/21/09

Present: Kubicek, Kohn, Schnorrenberg, Pounder, Francis, O’Dell, Stuart-Paul, Shaw, Boyer, G. Mitchell, Hager, Baxter, French

Absent: A. Mitchell, Samuel

The meeting began at 7:30 Pm with prayer, scripture and listening post.

The minutes of the last meeting were accepted.

Finance Report

Update of deficit is $52,000. Good news rectory is rented and the expenses of rental properties finished we may have turned the corner.
Capital Improvement fund is for capital improvements not specifically for a new building it is for general capital improvements.
Every dollar raised for the original building fund was spent on the parking lot and the additions to the preschool. We have kept the money in the capital improvement funds to continue improvements to the church property.

We will discuss the spending of capital improvement funds at the next vestry meeting.

Rector’s Report

2 service emails response seems to be to go ahead with the two service schedule
Vestry discussed the emails that were thoughtful and have brought us already closer together.
MLK, Dupre, Easter, all were great.
Janet Staiger funeral was beautiful.
Post Cards were a success.
1 day in Atlanta for diocesan clergy day stewardship in the middle of the economic crisis
Sutton had a clergy day for confirmation, reception and reaffirmation of vows
Community Service Person had him clear out around the barn and smith avenue and got it cleared away.

Talked about how to get information on the website and perhaps a way to funnel info in Vestry as POC’s?
O’Dell asked vestry to please go through website and see how things are situated at this point.

The vestry agreed to look at website usage and think about vestry persons as POC’s for website info.

Come back next meeting with a proposal to reduce size, look at ad size.

G. Mitchell talked about warranty companies regarding the rectory, duplex. BGE $20 a month heating, air, water. Appliances would make it $40 a month.
American Home Shield $50 a month plus a $50 deductible each time you use it.
Will bring a proposal at the next meeting whether to pursue it.

Shaw asked are we voting on the change of services.
Pounder said we could have a vote of support.
O’Dell makes motion that we support the decision to change to the two service format.
G Mitchell seconded.
Vestry discussed the motion.
We may learn something we do not know.
Communication Meeting in the fall to discuss how it’s going November 15
Vestry approved the motion.

Jennie McConnachie coming with a board member and vestry is doing coffee hour. Jennie Boyer would like us to really talk up the board member.
